How to Press Flowers / Part III. Pressure

The higher the better?

It would be unwise to expect that the higher the tonnage of your press, the better result you achieve. Just remember that flower rosin needs higher pressure than kief and has rosin to extract the oil out.

Some rosin presses provide 20 or even 30 tons of pressure but too much force may mean undesirable particles in your extract. Experience shows that the ideal pressure for flower extraction ranges between 550 and 1,500 PSI at the plate. Once again – don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t forget how much starting material quality and humidity matters. The right level of pressure is a subject of fierce discussions, and if you have better results with higher force applied, stick to it. Or try lower levels and see what you get compared to the original way.
